Welcome to Historic Clinton, Missouri's Downtown District

Historic Roots. Vibrant Future.
Preserving historic downtown Clinton while strengthening community, commerce, and connection.

MISSION
To preserve and promote downtown Clinton as a community hub while focusing efforts to ensure our downtown remains a major contributor to Clinton’s economy by using the Main Street Four-Point Approach.
HISTORY
Since 1989, Clinton Main Street has helped champion improvements that keep downtown welcoming and active—supporting rehabilitation efforts and helping drive façade renovations and placemaking initiatives that reinforce the district’s historic identity while inviting new investment.
Today, Clinton Main Street continues that legacy by bringing people together—property owners, entrepreneurs, volunteers, and partners—to celebrate the district’s story and build its next chapter through events, beautification, and reinvestment in the heart of the community.
VISION
The Clinton Square Historic District will be a regional governmental, professional, and retail center and will be a thriving and diverse shopping, dining, and cultural destination. Clinton Main Street will partner with other community development groups and local government to strengthen downtown assets. The downtown district will be recognized as a viable contributor to the Clinton area economy and a visible symbol of community pride. Downtown will be a good place to live, work, visit, shop and invest.

The Economic Vitality committee works to recruit new businesses and strengthen the existing competitiveness of the traditional merchants and service businesses while diversifying the economic base. This committee also works closely with the Design Committee to creatively convert unused space for new uses and seek appropriate solutions for historic commercial buildings that will ensure their continue occupancy, maintenance, and preservation.
